ALPINE HERB CREAM – A TRADITION.

The history of Sixtus has two guiding principles. Firstly, the knowledge that alpine herbs are able to heal. And secondly, the striving to enable active people to benefit from our knowledge. This vision is still alive even after more than 90 years – thanks to unique know-how and pharmaceutical capability.

The history of Sixtus begins when druggist Otto Richter sets up the Sixtus laboratory in Schliersee, Germany, and distributes the first products for sports and skin care. Things really take off when his sports-loving successor Fritz Becker launches the alpine herb cream, which flies off the shelves. It becomes a success story that continues even today, despite a few setbacks.

TRADITIONAL KNOWLEDGE OF NATURAL CARE FOR THE SKIN, FEET, AND MUSCLES

Sixtus has harnessed the power of nature for more than 90 years. Otto Richter specified the company’s direction right from the beginning. In his laboratory, he experimented with extraction methods and suitable combinations. How can the valuable active ingredients be used to give the greatest benefits? What plant extracts help to relieve what symptoms? And in what compositions can the ingredients enhance each other’s effect? To answer these questions, he utilized centuries-old knowledge of natural skin care from the alpine region. And this knowledge of herbs still forms the basis of Sixtus even today! So, on the one hand, we are preserving the heritage of our founders. And on the other, we are nonetheless using the latest research findings to remain loyal to our aspiration in the future as well: using high-grade, high-performance alpine herbs to protect, vitalize, and regenerate the skin, feet, nails, and muscles.

STRESSED SKIN AND MUSCLES

Even the very first alpine herb cream clearly demonstrated that Sixtus knows how to care for athletes’ skin and muscles! In the 1950s, Sixtus was consequently in demand as a partner and supporter of various expeditions and cycling events. We became a supplier to the German Olympic team for the first time in 1952 for the Games in Helsinki. Over the following decades, the brand became established as a reliable partner for various athletes and sports teams. But our crowning glory came in 1972, when Sixtus was named an official supplier to the Games in Munich – for all participating countries! And today, Sixtus continues to support numerous athletes and events: the Schliersee Run and the Sixtus Alpine Triathlon are still held every year. Most recently, Philip Lahm was able to contribute his expertise as a sports professional and co-owner. The brand is also a long-standing official supplier to the major sporting associations in Italy: these especially include most soccer clubs in Serie A and B and also numerous basketball, volleyball, rugby, cycling, and hockey teams.
