ALPINE HERBS FOR SKIN CARE.

Once people realize that humans are dependent on nature, they automatically take care of its treasures and use them in moderation. At Sixtus, we have understood this. And so we show appreciation and respect in our actions and handling of nature.

Sustainability plays a crucial role in the world of Sixtus – you could say it comes naturally: our use of renewable raw materials aims to help people, which is sustainable. And our handling of these raw materials is also sustainable: during cultivation and harvesting of our alpine herbs, we consciously avoid intensive methods such as the use of mineral fertilizer and genetic engineering. Our many years of experience play a major role here, and we pass on our knowledge for the benefit of coming generations as well. We have also found solutions that enable climate-neutral shipping. In a nutshell, we take all possible steps to avoid harming nature and our environment. After all, it’s the basis of our success!

HARVESTING ALPINE HERBS

The climate is harsh in the mountains. Above the timberline, only specific plants grow that have adapted to the extreme weather conditions. As they have such special properties, much of this alpine flora has been gathered since time immemorial. Arnica and gentian are just two examples. For our alpine herb extract, the plants no longer have to be arduously picked by hand, but are fully sourced from organic farming, where compost and manure are used as fertilizers. And the plants are protected by biological means (such as traps or natural enemies). Only companies that adhere to the strict requirements are allowed to deliver raw materials for the Sixtus products.

SKIN CARE FROM NATURE

These organic herbs are used to gain the alpine herb extract. The process is subject to very strict raw materials specifications, with the help of an electronically controlled extraction system. It is this system that enables us to create stable extracts with a consistent quality. What is really special is that the process uses zero added warmth. This preserves the valuable ingredients that are sensitive to temperature, allowing their full power to take effect in the Sixtus skin care products. By the way, our production process is monitored in accordance with the GMP provisions for cosmetics, ISO 22716.

SENSITIVE GROWTH

Every company wants to grow. However, being sustainable means this shouldn’t be pursued at all costs. After all, our growth is based on nature. And as we want to have the lowest possible impact, we only use cardboard boxes and packing tape made of 100% recycling material for new orders. We also make sure that the manufacturer of the cardboard boxes is FSC-certified. This guarantees sustainability of the entire production chain. The letters “RESY” are printed on them, which shows that the boxes are reusable. Incidentally: we chose air pillows as our packaging filler material long ago. These consist of 99% air and are 100% recyclable. We also take a responsible approach to shipping at our logistics center in Greven: all CO2 emissions resulting from transport and logistics are offset using the DHL Group environmental protection program GOGreen.
